Great Start Scholarships

Jacquelyn Curry and Jay Hufnagel have been awarded MidAmerica National Bank’s Great Start Scholarships for the 2018-2019 school year. These scholarships were created to help local students get a “great start” on their education.

Great Start Scholarship Recipient Jacquelyn

Jacquelyn Curry graduated from Illini Central High School in 2016 and is currently enrolled in the pre-clinical nursing program at Spoon River College in Canton. She is involved with Spoon River College Student Government and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Her goal is to become a registered nurse and plans to give back to the community by working in facilities within the local area while working towards a bachelor’s degree in biology. Jacquelyn says this scholarship is important to her because it will help with paying tuition and minimizing debt.

Great Start Scholarship Recipient Jay

Jay Hufnagel is a recent graduate of Henry-Senachwine High School. While being active in extracurricular activities in high school, he also worked over 300 community service hours, worked a part-time job, and maintained an A average. He is attending the University of Wisconsin at Platteville and majoring in Building Construction Management. After college he wants to work in the construction industry in Central Illinois. Jay said this scholarship will help him reach his goal of graduating from college with a minimal amount of student debt.

Jacquelyn and Jay were each presented with $500 scholarships that will be applied to their college tuition. Congratulations and best of luck to both deserving recipients!
